Local Charter School Helps U.S. Marine Pass His TAKS Test – All the Way From A Military Base In Japan.

Joshua Poullard has learned a great deal during his time as a U.S. Marine. He has learned the value of commitment. He has learned the importance of teamwork. He has also learned the importance of a good education. Education is the key to success in the military just like everywhere else. Having failed the math portion of the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills test, Joshua found a high school diploma out of reach - out of reach until he reached out to Premier High School of Beaumont, a ResponsiveEd campus.

PFC Poullard sent an email from his base in Japan to his hometown in Beaumont requesting help in retaking his TAKS test. When Tony Hadnot, ResponsiveEd Campus Director, received the email he started the wheels in motion to help PFC Poullard re-take the math portion of the test and to complete his high school education. “I was proud of Joshua for making the effort to obtain his diploma”, Hadnot stated. Mr. Hadnot then proceeded to make contact with ResponsiveEd’s director of state assessment, Lauren Nix for guidance.

“Mr. Poullard was motivated to successfully complete his TAKS test and came to us for help. Since he was doing everything he could to further his education while serving his country, we did everything we could to assist him,” Nix said.

ResponsiveEd not only arranged for PFC Poullard to take his test but provided him with access to online study materials so that he could brush up on his skills. “Thank you for your support! I very much appreciate all your hard work.” Said Poullard in one of the many emails back and forth with Responsive Ed it took to work out the process for the retest to be taken from Japan.

ResponsiveEd went the extra mile for PFC Poullard as it does in its support of all its students .ResponsiveEd is the largest charter school district in the state of Texas. Its campuses, located primarily in metropolitan areas, currently serve more than 4,000 students on 32 campuses. A big part of the success ResponsiveEd enjoys is in the area of drop-out recovery. Whether a student has fallen behind or simply wants to get ahead, ResponsiveEd’s true learner-based environment program is designed to ensure that they learn and succeed

“We look forward to PFC Joshua Poullards’ success, as a proud marine, a high school graduate and the bright future in the days to come. ResponsiveEd was glad to be a small part of his success,” stated Hadnot.

The quote that closes PFC Joshua Poullard’s email signature says it all:

“I would rather focus on pursuing excellence than chasing rewards.”
