To promote engagement and empower students in the classroom, we structure our day and the curriculum accordingly. This successful approach has enabled tens of thousands of students to achieve goals they never imagined possible.
WHAT IS MASTERY-BASED CURRICULUM?
At Premier High School, our curriculum is designed to fit the needs of each student. The mastery-based approach ensures students build a foundation of knowledge and gives them the confidence to reach their goals.
PERSONALIZED LEARNING
We divide the curriculum into Bright Thinker™ KnowledgeUnits, which include related lessons, quizzes, and a mastery exam. Students can redo lessons and retake the mastery exam until they pass. Passing all ten mastery exams is necessary to earn academic credit. Unlike traditional classrooms that follow a district-wide pacing guide, our approach focuses on mastery and individualization, giving students ample time to build a solid foundation of knowledge for future learning.
GOAL ORIENTED
Our program gives students the freedom to learn at their own pace but still offers a structured day to guide them toward success in their individualized learning plans. The day begins by setting goals and priorities for coursework. Throughout the four-hour school day, students engage in independent work, small group learning, and one-on-one teacher support. Afterward, the student and instructor assess their progress and decide if homework is necessary. Additional tutoring and group work are also available.
